Following the advice of another top 10 list of places to see in Boston, we visited the Boston Navy Yard. Just as we got there, the sun decided to take a nap and the wind picked up! *Once again remind me to visit Boston in the Spring or Summer!
The USS Cassin Young was dry docked, and I was able to get few pictures of it’s angular hull. The USS Cassin Young is a Fletcher-class destroyer and was named after Captain Cassin Young, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism at Pearl Harbor.
The other ship docked at the Navy Yard was the wooden-hulled frigate USS Constitution. She was named by President George Washington after the Constitution of the United States. Launched for the first time in 1797, I was amazed that she had actually sailed under her own power 4 months before we visited her in August 2012.
If the ships don’t interest you, you can always try to move the various anchors around! Good luck! Ha!
